Kev's East Sussex Diary - 19th April 2015

Kevin Morgan of Anglers Den Sussex, Pevensey Bay, East Sussex gives a monthly summary of local sea fishing competition results.


ANDERIDA
The clubs presentation night was held on Wednesday 11th March at the Ocean View Bakery with over 25 members in attendance. The trophy winners included Martin Payne winning the junior championship as well as the junior sole cup, bass cup, species cup and cod cup! Jim Whippy won the senior sole cup as well as the best flatfish in club comps with the same fish, also winning the  species cup with 15 species, the in match species cup with 10, and the pairs trophy with Les Glazzard. The bass cup was won by Shaun Mitchell with 5lb 7oz, the smoothound cup by Paul Parsons with 4lb 3 ½ oz and the cod cup Kevin Morgan with 5lb 14oz. Dennis Puttick won the best round fish in club matches with a bass of 4lb 1oz. The biggest dab was a club record fish of 1lb for Adrian Darker and the biggest whiting also a club record of 1lb 12 ¼ oz for John Craig. Colin Everest also broke a club record with a rockling of 7 ¾ oz. The heaviest flounder was 1lb 2 ¾ oz for Colin Isaacs and Colin also shared the spring cup with Shawn Smith with 69 points. The club champion for 2014 was Dan Wood with Colin Isaacs runner up.

On Wednesday 18th March 19 anglers fished in Pevensey Bay with Malcolm Payne catching a mixed bag including a codling and flounder for 3lb 4oz. Second was David Tame with 2lb 12 ¼ oz, third Colin Everest with 2lb 5 ½ oz and fourth Phil Taylor with 2lb ¾ oz. The heaviest round was a codling of 2lb 3 ½ oz for David Tame and the heaviest flat a flounder of 10 ½ oz for Tim Lane.

On Wednesday 1st April 19 anglers again fished in Pevensey Bay with Darren Mitchell landing 2 codling and some whiting for a winning weight of 7lb 6 ¾ oz. Second was Colin Isaacs with 6lb, third Rod Reynolds with 5lb 13 ½ oz and joint fourth Martin Payne and Phil Metcalf with 5lb ½ oz. The heaviest round was a codling of 3lb 3 ½ oz for Darren Mitchell and the heaviest round a flounder of 12 ¼ oz for Dan Wood.

THE EASTBOURNE NOMADS
The club fished a match on Monday 16th March with 24 anglers fishing at Langney Point. The winner with 5lb 7oz was Phil Chapman including the biggest fish, a codling of 4lb 1 ¼ oz. Second was Paul Parsons with 2lb 15oz, third Gerald Sargeant with 2lb 11 ¼ oz and fourth Tony Kirrage with 2lb 4oz. The heaviest flatfish was a flounder of 7 ¼ oz for Gerald Sargeant.

PEVENSEY BAY ANGLING CLUB
On Sunday 22nd March 28 anglers fish in Pevensey Bay, in calm conditions Jo Plumstead fishing near Alices Pipe landed two codlings for a weight of 4lb 5 ¼ oz to win! Second was his brother Ollie with 3lb 12 ½ oz, third Paul King with 3lb 6 ¾ oz and fourth Gerald Sargeant with 3lb 6oz. Biggest flatfish was a plaice of 1lb ½ oz for Gerald Sargeant and the biggest round a codling of 2lb 14oz for Paul King.

OVER FIFTIES MATCHES
On Tuesday 24th March 23 anglers fished at Whitehorses with Ian Hopper catching 2lb 7 ¼ oz to win the match. Second was Sam Samson with 1lb  ¼ oz, third Mike Perfect with 13 ½ oz and fourth Dave Rudland with 12 ¼ oz. Biggest flat was a flounder with 13 ½ oz for Mike Perfect and the heaviest round was 3 ¾ oz for Dave Rudland.

On Tuesday 7th April the fishing was again scratchy with Fred Wassell winning with 1lb 3 ½ oz. Second was Tony Bush with 1lb 2 ¼ oz, third Paul Christopher with 14 ½ oz and fourth Taylor Solerno with 13 ¼ oz. The heaviest round was a whiting of 4 ¼ oz for Alan Smith and the heaviest flat a flounder of 14 ½ oz for Paul Christopher.

THE RAILWAY TAVERN  FISHING CLUB
The 6th round of the Railway Tavern club ws fished on Saturday 21st March in Pevensey Bay. First was Mathew Brown with whiting pout and ling for 3lb 2oz. Second Paul Spiers with 1lb 5oz and third Ian Bishop and Dennis Puttick with 1lb. Heaviest flat was a flounder of 7 oz for Fred Puttick and heaviest round a whiting of 7oz for Kevin Merner.
On Sunday 5th April Mathew Brown won the match with 13 ½ oz, second was Jason Anderson with 10 ½ oz and third Steve Merner with 7oz. The heaviest round was a whiting of 5oz for Peter Fountain.

GENERAL
On Monday 23rd March Chris Voller fished near Billy’s Tower in Normans Bay and managed to catch some nice plaice!!!   Then a week later fishing in the same area Rod Hutchinson used salted and oiled frozen lug o catch a nice codling of 3lb 8oz.  Gary Banfield fish along Eastbourne Seafront recently and landed several nice plaice and flounder!! February through to April has been a good season for this area as when its been rough the codling have appeared and on calm days the plaice! Happy days!!!   The Eastbourne Charter boats have been enjoying some god fishing with plenty of cod and Pollack from off-shore wrecks! With several fish into the high 20’s being caught on Deep Blue in recent weeks.

ANGLERS DEN OPEN

The 2015 Open Competition marks a 25th anniversary year for Anglers Den!!

The competition was held on Sunday 8th March in beautiful sunny conditions in Pevensey Bay, with 75 entries catching plenty of fish, with the main species being plaice with rockling and flounders.

A Zone 1st Chris Clark 3lb 11½oz, 2nd Ben Arnold 3lb 9¼oz, 3rd Richard Cleal 2lb 11oz.
B Zone 1st Trevor Rooney 3lb 4½oz, 2nd Tony Kirrage 2lb 10¾oz, 3rd Malcolm Payne 2lb 3½oz.
C Zone 1st Nick May 2lb 6oz, 2nd Ian Golds 2lb 2¼oz, 3rd Sam Sampson 1lb 15¼oz.

Overall winners 1st Chris Clark 3lb 11½oz, 2nd Ben Arnold 3lb 9¼oz, 3rd Trevor Rooney 3lb 4½oz, 4th Richard Cleal 2lb 11oz, 5th Tony Kirrage 2lb 10¾oz, 6th Nick May 2lb 6oz, 7th Joe Plumstead 2lb 4½oz, 8th Malcolm Payne 2lb 3½oz, 9th Ian Golds 2lb 2 ¼oz, 10th Steve Martin 2lb 1oz, 11th Jason Anderson 2lb and 12th Sam Sampson 1lb 15¾oz.

The pairs winners were Ian Golds and Chris Clark with 5lb 13¾oz and the runners up were Ben Arnold and Sam Sampson with 5lb 9oz.

The heaviest flatfish overall was a plaice of 1lb 11oz for Trevor Rooney and the heaviest round a codling of 1lb 14oz for Steve Martin.


THE NOMADS

On Wednesday 18th February the 1st Presidents cup was held, with the winner Tony Kirrage landing two codling and pout for a total weight of 6lb 12oz. Second Paul Christopher with 2lb 11 oz 12 dr and third Graham Lewis with 2lb 10oz 4dr.

The heaviest flat was a plaice of 7oz 4dr for Neil Marshall and the heaviest round a codling of 4lb 10oz for Tony Kirrage.
On Thursday 5th March the 2nd Presidents cup was held with plenty of codling and a club record cod being caught!!

The winner was Gerald Sargeant with 20lb 7oz, including a club record 16lb 5oz cod caught on size 2 hooks!! Second was Paul Christopher with 10lb 2oz 4dr and third Dan Wood with 8lb 9oz. They all caught codling but none anywhere near Geralds excellent fish!! The heaviest flat was a plaice of 8oz 8dr for Martin Payne.

ANDERIDA

On Tuesday 17th February The club match held in Pevensey Bay was won by Darren Mitchell with 3lb 1oz. Second was Malcolm Payne with 2lb 13 ¾ oz and third Harry Spencer with 2lb 8 ¼ oz. The heaviest fish was a codling of 2lb 7¾oz for Darren Mitchell and the biggest flatfish a flounder of 1lb 2 ½ oz for Malcolm Payne.

On Sunday 22nd February the club fished a members only big fish bash!! With cash prizes awarded to the top 4 round fish and top 4 flatfish as well as a combination prize as well. Each member only permitted to weigh in 1 flat and 1 round.  
The biggest flat fish 1st Dan Wood with a plaice of 1lb ¼ oz. 2nd Paul Parsons flounder 14 ¼ oz. 3rd Rod Reynolds Flounder 9oz and 4th Tony Bush plaice 8 ¼ oz. The biggest round 1st Gerald Sargeant codling 3lb 9oz. 2nd Gary Banfield whiting 10 ½ oz. 3rd Martin Payne whiting 7 ½ oz and 4th Tom Jarrett whiting 6 ½ oz.
Combined flat/round 1st Gerald Sargeant 3lb 14 ¼ oz, 2nd Dan Wood 1lb 3oz, 3rd Paul Parsons 1lb 2 ¼ oz and 4th Rod Reynolds 14 ¾ oz.

On Wednesday 4th March on a lovely calm night there were plenty of fish in Pevensey Bay. A number of good size codling were caught as well as whiting, pout, plaice, dab and rockling.
The winner with a codling and whiting and rockling was Glyn Morgan with 5lb 10 ¼ oz. 2nd Keith Bean with 2 codling for 5lb 3oz. 3rd Tim Lane with 3lb oz and 4th Gary Banfield with 3lb 7 ½ oz. The heaviest flatfish was a plaice of 10oz for Gary Banfield and the heaviest round was a codling of 3lb 7oz for Tim Lane.

THE RAILWAY TAVERN

The fourth round of club matches was held on Sunday 22nd February with 20 anglers fished in hard conditions. The winner was Rob Burns with 1lb 10oz. Second was Paul Christopher with 1lb 8 ½ oz and third Dan Puttick with 1lb 3½oz.

The 5th round was held on Saturday 7th March and the winner was Joe Plumstead with 5lb 12oz, including the biggest fish a codling of 4lb 4oz. 2nd was Peter Fountain with 2lb 4oz and 3rd were A.J. and Dennis Puttick both with 1lb 9oz.


THE OVER FIFTIES

On Tuesday 24th February 20 anglers fished at Normans Bay with Fred Wassell catching some nice fish including the biggest flatfish, a flounder of 1lb 1 ¾ oz for a total weight of 3lb11 ¾ oz. Second was Gerald Sargeant with 2lb 9 ¼ oz including the biggest fish an eel of 1lb 12 ¾ oz. Third was Gary Banfield with 2lb 4oz and fourth Alan Smith with 2lb ½ oz.

The next match was fished on Tuesday 10th March at Whitehorses with Ian Hopper winning with 2lb 5 ¾ oz, including the biggest flatfish, a plaice of 1lb 2oz. Second was Carol Vivian with 2lb 3oz including the biggest round, a 4 ½ oz rockling. Third was Gary Banfield with 1lb 9 ¾ oz and fourth Mike Perfect with 1lb 8oz.

GENERAL

At last !! we are seeing a spring run of codling, with the majority of fish weighing between 2 and 4lb. With the odd exception such as Geralds 16lb cod. The fish are mainly being caught at night, but during the day the plaice are beginning to show along Eastbourne seafront and at Whitehorses.

From the boats out of Sovereign Harbour cod and Pollack are being caught offshore. Codling are also being caught closer to the shoreline.

PEVENSEY BAY ANGLING CLUB

The second club match was fished on Sunday 1st February with 32 anglers fishing on a short tide. The winner with 2lb 2 ¼ oz was Paul Christopher. Second was Keith Erridge with 2lb 2oz, third Colin Issacs with 2lb ½ oz and fourth Malcolm Payne with 1lb 14 ½ oz. The biggest round was a whiting of 8oz for Gerald Sargeant and the biggest flat a flounder of 11oz for Colin Isaacs.

The Pevensey Bay ANGLING Club annual open was held on Sunday 8th February, organised by Steve Dell with help from Ian Hopper, Joe Plumstead and Dan Wood. The over all winner with 2lb 7 ¾ oz was Gerald Sargeant, including the biggest fish a 1lb 8 ¾ oz flounder! Second was Ben Arnold with 2lb 5 ½ oz, 3rd Colin Crosby 2lb 3 ¼ oz, 4th Rod Parris 1lb 14 ¾ oz, 5th Dave Checksfield 1lb 14 ½ oz and 6th Nick May 1lb 13 ¼ oz. Ben Arnold won A zone with Colin Crosby second and Rod Parris third. Gerald Sargeant won B zone with Dave Checksfield second and Nick May third. The pairs winners were Colin and Ralph Crosby with a combined weight of 3lb 13 ½ oz and the runners up were Dean Murphy and Gerald Sargeant with 3lb 13oz. The heaviest round was a whiting of 7 ½ oz for Shaun Mitchell.

THE RAILWAY
The second match of the season was held on Sunday 25th January in Pevensey Bay, in calm mild conditions. The winner was Mark Underhill (rollerball) with 1lb 4oz, second Karl Puttick with 1lb 1oz and third Peter Fountain with 1lb. The heaviest round was a whiting of 7oz for Dan Puttick and the heaviest flat a flounder of 11oz for Dennis Puttick.
The third match on Saturday 7th February was won by Paul Spiers with 2lb, second Gary Windeat with 1lb 7 ½ oz and third Dan Puttick with 1lb 4oz.

NEWHAVEN AND SEAFORD SHORE CLUB
On Thursday 22nd January The club fished a roving competition with Mark Gillett landing 4lb 4lb 6 ¾ oz. Second Tim Roser with 4lb 4 ¾ oz and third Brian Henderson with 1lb 1 ½ oz.
On Sunday 25th January Mark Gillett won with 6lb 6oz. Second was Glynn Hutchinson with 4lb and third Eric Burnett with 3lb.


THE NOMADS
On Tuesday 20th January the second Slater cup was fished with Richard Newman winning with whiting and codling for 7lb 5oz. Second was Joe Plumstead with 4lb 6oz and third Graham Lewis with 4lb 1oz. The heaviest round was a codling of 2lb 15oz for Joe Plumstead and the heaviest flat a flounder of 9 ¾ oz for Arran Aghili.
On Tuesday 3rd February the third Slater Cup was fished for! The winner with 1lb 12oz was Dan Wood. Second Paul Parsons with 1lb 6oz and third Arran Aghilli with 1lb. The heaviest round was a whiting of 1lb 12oz for Dan Wood and the heaviest flat was a flounder of 7oz for Colin Essery.


ANDERIDA
On Monday 15th January In Pevensey Bay, the second match was held with Les Glazzard managing to land both the heaviest round and superpool with a codling of 1lb 14oz and the heaviest flatfish a dab of 4 ½ oz. The winner was Mick Lowe with a nice catch of whiting for 5lb 8 ¾ oz. Second Kevin Morgan with 5lb 5 ½ oz, third Rod Reynolds with 4lb 2 ½ oz and fourth Phil Metcalf with 3lb 12 ¾ oz.
The 3rd match on Wednesday 4th February was won by Darren Mitchell with 1lb 12 ½ oz. Second was David Tame with 1lb 10 ¾ oz and third Colin Everest with 12 ½ oz. The heaviest round was a whiting of 6oz and the heaviest flat and superpool went to David Tame for a flounder of 13 ¼ oz.

OVER FIFTIES
On Thursday 22nd January Paul Christopher won the match with whiting for 4lb 6 ½ oz. Second was Keith Erridge with 3lb 15 ½ oz, third Gerald Sargeant with 3lb 11 ¾ oz and fourth Vernon Vivian with 3lb 7 ¼ oz. Biggest round was a whiting of 9 ¾ oz shared between Paul Christopher and Gerald Sargeant and the biggest flat was a dab of 5 ½ oz for Malcolm Payne.
The third match of the year fished in Pevensey Bay was won by Dave Rudland with 5 rockling for 12 ¼ oz. Second was Tony Bush with 10 ¾ oz, third Malcolm Payne with 10 ¼ oz and fourth Gerald Sargeant with 9 ¾ oz. The heaviest round was a whiting of 5 ¾ oz for Ian Hopper and the heaviest flatfish a flounder of 7oz for Fred Wassell.


GENERAL
Steve Hanks (of Hook, line and Sinker, Bexhill) caught a cracking 3lb plaice at Splash Point, Eastbourne on Sunday 15th february. Steve won the Catch and Release comp run by Joe Plumstead, who was second. The sunshine and settled conditions seem to have brought the plaice in early.
Derek Box landed a nice 19lb 5oz cod out of Eastbourne Marina recently fishing on a  private boat called Wanderer using cuttle and an ABU Suveran rod.

Kev's East Sussex Diary - 18th January 2015

Kevin Morgan of Anglers Den Sussex, Pevensey Bay, East Sussex, UK  gives a monthly summary of local sea fishing competition results.
       
ANDERIDA
The final match of the 2014 season was held on 18th December with Darren Mitchell landing 10lb 10oz of whiting and a dogfish to win. Second was Kevin Morgan with 7lb 8oz and third Jim Whippy with 7lb ½ oz. The biggest fish was a codling of 2lb 10oz for Shawn Smith.
Congratulations to Dan Wood for finishing as the 2014 club champion, just pipping Colin Isaacs in the last 2 matches. The top six were 1st Dan Wood 431 points. 2nd Colin Isaacs 423 points. 3rd Jim Whippy 388 points. 4th Tim Harmer 367 points. 5th Rod Reynolds 348 points and 6th Colin Everest 318 points. Martin Payne was the junior champion. The pairs winners were Les Glazzard and Jim Whippy.
On Monday 5th January the first club match was held with 22 anglers fishing in calm conditions. 1st Kevin Morgan with 5lb 1 ¼ oz. 2nd Glyn Morgan with 4lb 10oz, 3rd Jim Whippy with 4lb 4oz and 4th Tim Lane with 3lb 8 ½ oz. The biggest flatfish was a dab of 5oz for Gary Banfield and the biggest round a whiting of 9 ½ oz for Kevin Morgan.

PEVENSEY BAY ANGLING CLUB
On Sunday 21st December the 12th and final club match was held with 26 anglers fishing. The winner was Paul Christopher with 5lb 12oz. 2nd Kim McGreevy with 5lb 8 ½ oz, 3rd Dean Murphy with 5lb 7oz and 4th Martin Payne with 4lb 15oz. The biggest flatfish was a flounder of 14 ½ oz for Steve Dell and the biggest round a whiting of 10oz for Martin Payne.
The club held their final on the 28th December with 21 qualified to fish it. The winner on the day was Gerald Sargeant with 6lb 5oz (winner of the Terry Allen Cup). Second was Paul Parsons with 5lb 13 ¾ oz, 3rd Joe Plumstead with 4lb 7oz, 4th Tony Kirrage with 3lb 15oz, 5th Steve Tibbals with 3lb 8oz and 6th Rod Reynolds with 3lb 7 ¼ oz. The biggest round was a codling of 2lb 4 ½ oz for Paul Parsons and the biggest flat a flounder of 1lb 2 ¼ oz for Paul Puplett.

The final results for the overall champion with the most points from the 12 Sunday matches were 1st Gerald Sargeant 247 points. 2nd Colin Isaacs 224 points, 3rd Tony Bush 200 points and 4th Dan Wood 177 points. Top Junior was Harvey Plumstead and best lady angler went to Ellie Legate.

The first match in the new season saw 31 anglers fishing on Sunday 11th January with Malcolm Payne landing 3lb 15oz of flounder and whiting for 1st place. 2nd was Brett Green with 3lb 14oz, 3rd Gary Banfield with 3lb 6 ½ oz and 4th Ian Hopper with 3lb 4 ½ oz. Biggest flatfish was a lovely flounder of 1lb 9oz for Colin Isaacs and the biggest round a bass of 1lb ¼ oz for John Ryder.

THE NOMADS
The club fished their 3rd cod and species cup on Monday 22nd December with Ryan Mayell winning with 60 species points for codling, whiting and dogfish. Second was Martin Payne with 50 points and a weight of 5lb 6oz and 3rd Phil Chapman also withy 50 points and a weight of 4lb 14oz 4dr. The heaviest round was a codling of 2lb 8oz for Paul Parsons and the heaviest flatfish was a dab of 6oz for Tony Kirrage.
The first match of 2015 was The Slater Cup fished on Tuesday 6th January. The winner was Joe Plumstead with 11 fish for 8lb 2oz 12dr (including codling, dogfish, pout, whiting and ling). Second was 11 year old Joseph Taylor 7lb 1oz 4dr including 3 codling. 3rd was Paul Christopher with 5lb 1oz 8dr and 4th Ian Hopper with 4lb 5oz. The heaviest round was a codling of 2lb 10oz 4dr for Joseph Taylor and the heaviest flatfish a flounder of 8oz 8dr for Arran Aghilli.

THE RAILWAY CLUB
On Sunday December 7th The club held a match with Peter Fountain finishing 1st with 3lb 2oz of whiting. Second was Ian Bishop with 2lb 12oz and 3rd Karl Puttick with 2lb 2oz. The biggest fish was a codling of 1lb 5oz for Karl Puttick.
The final match of the seasons championship was held on Sunday 14th December with Kim McGreevy winning with a weight of 7lb 6oz. 2nd Joe Plumstead with 5lb 8oz and third Karl Puttick with 3lb 12oz. The biggest fish was a whiting of 1lb 5oz for Kim McGreevy.
The Club Champion for 2014 was Dennis Puttick with his brother Fred second and A.J.Puttick third . The heaviest flat was a flounder of 1lb 9oz for Dennis Puttick and the heaviest round a bass of 2lb 14oz for Jason Anderson. Biggest fish out of competition was a lovely 8lb 4 ½ oz bass for Jason Anderson.
The Boxing Day match was won with 5lb 2oz of whiting by Joe Plumstead. 2nd was Dennis Puttick with 3lb 15 ½ oz and third Peter Fountain with 3lb 7oz. The heaviest flat was a flounder of 12oz for Peter Fountain and the heaviest round a whiting of 11oz for Ian Bishop.
The first match of the new season was held on Sunday January 11th with Steve Merner winning with 3lb 10oz including a bass of 2lb 12 ½ oz. 2nd was Peter Fountain with 3lb 5oz and 3rd Gary Windeat with 1lb 14oz. Biggest flat was a flounder of 13oz for Leon Williams.

ANGLING TRUST ALL SUSSEX SHORE CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL
The final was held in Pevensey Bay on Sunday 4th January as a pegged catch and release match. Fished in lovely sunny conditions the over-all winner with 40 fish for 496 points was Kevin Morgan. Second was Ralph Crosby with 451 points, third Trevor Rooney with 450 points and 4th Mick Snelling with 434 points. The biggest fish was a bass for Dave Knight.

OVER FIFTIES
On Thursday 8th January 18 anglers fished in some wet and windy conditions with Ian Hopper winning with 11lb 8 ¼ oz, including codling dogfish and whiting. 2nd was Vernon Vivian with 9lb 3 ½ oz, 3rd Sam Samson with 8lb 7oz and 4th Mike Perfect with 7lb 12oz. The biggest round was a codling of 2lb ¼ oz and the biggest flatfish a flounder of 1lb ¾ oz for Sam Samson.

When the boats managed to launch some nice cod have been caught, with several of the Eastbourne charter fleet reporting good fish! Bayside charters sent a picture of a nice 17lb cod as well as an 8lb thornback caught on 4th January.

A lot more codling have been showing recently with some nice catches at Langney Point and on Eastbourne Pier. Some are being caught in Pevensey and Normans Bay and I am hoping for a late spring run this year!! As the water temperature is only now beginning to drop nearer its seasonal levels!!

Kev's East Sussex Diary - 15th Dec 2014

Kevin Morgan of Anglers Den Sussex, Pevensey Bay, East Sussex gives a monthly summary of local sea fishing competition results.
       
THE NOMADS CHRISTMAS OPEN
On Sunday 7th December the Eastbourne Nomads A.C. held their annual Christmas Open. Due to an unfortunate clash with another Open there was not as many entries this year. But the weather was good, and a good time was had by most. fish caught were mainly whitings, poutings and dabs, with a few lings and a couple of flounders and codlings.
The fishing was pegged through Langney Point and divided into 2 zones.
After the winner, the payouts went through the zones with 8 in each zone (9 in the winning zone), there were also the pools, heaviest flat and round fish, then top 3 in each zone, there was also a seperate pairs competition with the top 3 being paid out. The Nomads also put up £150, this was divided for the top 3 Nomads A.C. club members. 31 cash prizes all together.
Trophies and prizes were presented by Snowy Ruffell, the club Chairman, Snowy has been a member of the Nomads since 1956.
The presentation and raffle was held at the Eastbourne Angling Association.
The overall winner was Gerald Sargeant with 5lb 5oz of whiting and dabs. Second in A Zone was Paul King with 5lb 8dr. 3rd Gary Banfield with 4lb 9oz 8dr. 4th Paul Parsons with 4lb 4 oz 12dr. B Zone winner was Trevor Rooney with 3lb 8oz. 2nd Paul Christopher with 2lb 8oz 4dr. 3rd Dave Rose with 2lb 6oz 12dr and fourth Barry Sinden with 1lb 12oz 8dr. The heaviest round was a codling of 1lb 3oz 8dr and the heaviest flatfish a flounder of 14oz 12dr for Dave Hollobone.

ANDERIDA FISHING CLUB
On Thursday 20th November Anderida held a beach match in Pevensey Bay with 24 anglers catching mainly whiting. The winner with 12lb 11oz was Dan Wood. Second was Gerald Sargeant with 10lb 15oz, third Jim Whippy with 9lb 11 ½ oz and fourth Colin Isaacs with 9lb 7 ½ oz. The superpool winner and biggest round with a whiting of 13oz was Tim Harmer. No flatfish were caught.
On Thursday 4th December 23 anglers fished in Pevensey Bay again catching mainly whiting. The results were very close with less than 1lb separating the top 10!!! The winner with 7lb 12 ¾ oz was Rob Lock. Second with 7lb 11oz was Kevin Morgan. Third was Colin Everest with 7lb 10oz and fourth Dan Wood with 7lb 7 ½ oz. The superpool and heaviest round was a codling of 2lb 4 ½ oz for Malcolm Payne and no flatfish was caught again.

THE NOMADS
On Monday 3rd November The Nomads fished the 3rd Presidents Cup with Ian Hopper landing 12lb 13oz 12dr of Pout, Codling and Whiting. Second was Dan Wood with 7lb 8oz 8dr and third Paul Parsons with 7lb 6oz. The heaviest fish was a codling of 2lb 3oz for Martin Payne and the heaviest flatfish was a sole of 1lb 8oz 8dr.
On Monday 24th November the first cod and species match was fished. The winner Tony Kirrage managed 4 species including a codling, dogfish, whiting and dab, for a weight of 6lb 1 oz. Second was Graham Lewis with 4lb 12oz and third Richard Newman with 4lb 1oz 8dr. The joint heaviest round winners were Tony Kirrage and Graham Lewis both with a codling of 1lb 8oz and the heaviest flatfish was a dab of 4oz for Tony Kirrage.
The second cod and species competition was held on Wednesday 3rd December with Paul King landing several codling as well as whiting and a sole for a total weight of 12lb 8oz as well as 65 species points. Second was Dan Wood also with 65 points and a weight of 10lb 1oz 8dr. Third was Rod Parris with 65 pints and 4lb 11oz 4dr and fourth Paul Parsons with 55 points and 4lb 8oz 4dr. The heaviest fish saw Paul King win both with a codling of 3lb 4oz and a sole of 12oz 12dr.

NEWHAVEN SEA ANGLERS CLUB
On Thursday 20th November the pairs cup was held. The individual winner was B Henderson with 5lb 10 ¼ oz. Second was M Gillett  with 5lb 6 ¼ oz and third K Skippings with 5lb 4oz. The pairs winners were M Gillett and B Goodwin with a combined weight of 10lb 4oz.

OVER FIFTIES
Twenty four anglers fished the over fifties beach match on Wednesday 26th November with 19 weighing in !! The winner with 6lb 14 3/4  oz was Malcolm Payne. Second was Ian Hopper with 6lb 13 ½ oz. 3rd was Carol Vivian with 6lb 8 ½ oz and fourth Vernon Vivian with 6lb 5oz. The heaviest round was an eel of 10 ¼ oz for Paul Christopher and the biggest flat a flounder of 7 ½ oz for Gerald Sargeant.
On Wednesday 10th December 19 anglers fished in Pevensey Bay with pplenty of whiting and pout showing. The winner was Paul Christopher with 12lb 7 ½ oz. 2nd Vernon Vivian with 11lb 3 ½ oz. 3rd Gerald Sargeant with 8lb 3oz and fourth Fred Wassell with 7lb 12 ½ oz.

GENERAL
On Sunday 14th December 24 anglers took part in the xmas big fish bash!!

Competitors were only allowed one flatfish and one round fish to weigh in. Heaviest flatfish were all flounders and first was Ian Hopper with 1lb 2 ½ oz. 2nd Terry Taylor with 14 ½ oz, 3rd Paul King with 13 ¼ oz and fourth Jim Whippy with 10 ¼ oz. Heaviest round fish were all whiting and joint first were Glyn Morgan and Joe Plumstead with 12 ½ oz. 3rd was John Ryder with 12oz and 4th Rod Reynolds with 11oz. The combined superpool winners were 1st Ian Hopper with 1lb 10oz and second Terry Taylor with 1lb 7oz.

PEVENSEY BAY AQUA CLUB
On Sunday 12th October 20 anglers fished with Kim McGreevy winning with 7lb 10oz. Second was Gerald Sargeant with 5lb 4oz, third Steve Tibbals with 4lb 8oz and fourth Ian Hopper with 3lb 12oz. The heaviest flat was a flounder of 13 ¼ oz for Rod Reymolds and the biggest round a codling of 2lb `14oz for Steve Tibbals.

On Sunday 9th November 28 anglers fished in ideal conditions in Pevensey Bay. The winner was Ian Hopper with 8lb 9oz (including 2 codlings). Second was Trevor Rooney with 8lb 1oz, third Joe Plumstead with 6lb 8oz and fourth Paul Christopher with 6lb 3oz. The heaviest flat were two flounders of 1lb 2oz shared by Steve and Kevin Merner and the biggest round was a codling of 2lb 2oz for Steve Tibbals. 

THE RAILWAY
On Sunday 26th October the club fished a match in Pevensey Bay, with the winner Kevin Merner landing a codling of 2lb 8oz for a total weight of 2lb 14oz. Second was his brother Steve with 2lb 5oz and third A.J.Puttick with 1lb 11 ½ oz. 

ANDERIDA
On Tuesday 21st October the match saw 18 anglers fishing in Pevensey Bay. The main species caught were whiting with some codling, dogfish and a cracking Dover sole for Rod Reynolds. The winner with 11lb 13 ½ oz was Jim Whippy. Second Rob Lock with 10lb 15oz and third Colin Isaacs with 10lb 10oz. The biggest fish and superpool winner was Tim Harmer with a codling of 1lb 13½ oz. The biggest flatfish was a good sole of 1lb 5oz for Rod Reynolds.

On Tuesday 4th November 21 anglers fished with the main species being whiting with some codling, dogfish, Flounder, pout and sole. Gerald Sargeant won with 11lb 8oz, Second with 9lb 15 ½ oz was Jim Whippy, Jim also caught the biggest flatfish and round with a lovely sole of 1lb 6 ¾ oz and a codling of 1lb 8 ¼ oz.

THE E ASTBOURNE NOMADS
The 5th Nomads Cup was fished on Wednesday October 8th with Dan Wood catching 12lb 12oz of whiting, pout, eel and bass. Second was Phil Chapman with 9lb 3oz 8dr, third Graham Lewis with 6lb 14oz 8dr and fourth Richard Newman with 6lb 14oz. The heaviest round was a bass of 2lb 1oz and the heaviest flatfish a dab of 7oz for Rod Parris.

OVER 50S
Twenty two anglers fished on Tuesday 28th October at Whithorses with Iain Smart winning with 2lb 10 ½ oz. Second was Tony Kirrage with 1lb 15 ¾ oz, third Keith Erridge with 1lb 15oz and fourth Alan Smith with 1lb 11 ½ oz. The heaviest round was a codling of 13 ½ oz for Malcolm Payne and the heaviest flatfish was a flounder of 11oz for Tony Kirrage.
On Wednesday 12th November Gary Banfield won the match with 7lb 14 ½ oz, including 2 bass. Second was Alan Smith with 5lb 1 ½ z, third Dave Rudland with 4lb 8oz and fourth Iain Smart with 4lb 6 ½ oz. The heaviest round was a bass of 2lb 9 ½ oz for Gary Banfield and the heaviest flatfish was a Sole of 15 ½ oz for Gerald Sargeant.
