River Tyne Salmon Fishing, Bellingham, Northumberland - Dan Wood - October 2014

Fishing Away From Home - news from Fishing Trips and Holidays.

The River Tyne in Northumberland is widely considered to be England's premier Salmon river and Dan Wood recently returned from a trip with his brother Mark to River North Tyne, where they fished at Bellingham.

Pictured below are Dan and Mark with the Salmon they caught fishing on the fly, which were returned alive. The fish were caught from a pool called Reeds Wood (since re-named by the pair 'Dan's Wood'  to mark their memorable trip).

Northumberland scenery is considered  'propa bonny' (really beautiful), and anglers report 'geet walla' (very large) Salmon catches from the North Tyne of 20lb+, where Salmon stocks have boomed in the last 15 years thanks to a highly successful Tyne hatchery program  - wey aye, man!

If you are considering 'gan doon' to this part of the country to try a spot of fly fishing, visit http://www.fishpal.com/England/Tyne/index.asp?dom=Tyne for more information.

Daiwa Irish Pairs, Dingle Peninsula, Co Kerry, Ireland - John Ryder and Phil Ollif - Sept/Oct 2014

Fishing Away From Home - news from your Fishing Trips and Holidays.

John Ryder and Phil Ollif fished the Daiwa Irish Pairs which this year took place from Friday 26th Sept til Thurs 2nd October 2014,  held on the Dingle Peninsula in SW Ireland.  AKA 'The Angling Week of the Year', the legendary Daiwa Irish Pairs is considered a major event in the national match calendar.

Now in it's 33rd year, it's something of an annual pilgrimage to the Emerald Isle.

Dingle is the most westerly place in Europe, known for its peace, tranquility and unhurried pace - and it's fishing! Oh, and then there's the Irish hospitality which ensures this is a social event as well as a fishing competition!

John and Phil had a grand time, some great 'Craic', and got up to shenanigans. They also caught some great fish and bought back some photos!

Below are pictures from a pleasure fishing session, separate from the main competition, in Dingle Harbour. John and Phil caught these Thornback Rays with sandeels and squid on a Pennel Rig.
