Chris Latta had a really successful day fishing in the sun at Eastbourne on Tuesday. In total he caught over a dozen plaice from the shore, with the largest being a 2lb specimen as pictured below.
It just goes to show that there are other fish in the sea, apart from whiting!
Later the same day,Gary Banfield also reported a very productive day shore fishing off Eastbourne Seafront. Gary caught a total of 19 plaice, and is pictured below with two of his catch.
We do like Happy Anglers :)
See the Anglers Den Sussex website for details of shore fishing marks, along the Sussex Coast, from below Eastbourne's Beachy Head, past Langney Point through Pevensey Bay to Cooden, near Bexhill-On-Sea. Click here for Fishing Mark Information
The beach along this stretch varies dramatically from the shingle beaches towards the east at Cooden, with shallow flats exposed at low water, contrasting with the cliffs at Beachy Head and the rock Marks towards the west.
Fishing Mark information advises what seasonal fish species to target (INCLUDING PLAICE), and of fishing tactics, tackle and bait.
